Peru's Real Estate Market

Ever since 2006 when Peru had the best stock market performance in the world, with an amazing gain of 182 per cent, Peru has been receiving more and more attention by the media for its business prospects. Property prices have managed to remain low, due largely in part to the lack of attention it has received as a country to make major investments in.

However, Doron Weisbarth of Lima Real Estate tells us that at the current time investments in Peru are low risk and have the chance of a good return. “A severe housing shortage and short construction cycles ensure strong prices, easy sales and quick returns,” Weisbarth said.

As the United States economy suffers, Peru’s continues to experience growth thanks to its great historical sites, such as Machu Picchu.

“In order to lure the private investor, Peru’s strongly democratic government beefed upLima_city protections for private investors, removed any restrictions on money transfers in or out and allowed for foreign entities to own real property,” states Weisbarth. It is all in an attempt to attract more foreign capital.

Lima is the most popular place to invest in property, being the capital; it is home to a third of the country’s population and two-thirds of its economic production. The greatest risk of investing in Lima is the earthquakes, something to be considered before purchasing property there.
