Pisco Sours at Huaringas Bar in Lima

Huaringas is my recommendation for cocktails in Lima. This popular and up-scale bar is located above the Brujas de Cachiche restaurant at Bolognesi 460 in Miraflores (the establishment is owned by one family).Pisco Sour at Huaringas

Huaringas is one of the most visited bars in Lima, thanks mainly to its broad selection of drinks made with Peru’s National Liquor, the Pisco. (Huaringas also has non-alcoholic drinks… if you’re into that sort of thing.)

As far as the Piscos go, there is the standard Pisco Sour, the Maracuya Sour (made with passion fruit), and one of my favorites, the Granadilla Sour (made with the Peruvian Granadilla fruit). The Brujo Sour is a Pisco Sour marinated in coca leaves, so it goes to your head a little quicker than your average cocktail.

Huaringas serves a variety of appetizer. I tried the steamed spring rolls, and they were pretty good.

The atmosphere is great, partly because of the quality of the business and partly because of the quality of the crowd. Most days of the week the place is packed, with Thursdays being a particularly popular night for some reason. Things get started late for this kind of scene in here, so the live music on Wednesday doesn’t begin until 10 or 11 pm. Other nights electronic jazz, and modern instrumental music plays in the background.

The place has three floors total, but due to it’s popularity, it can be hard to find a seat. You can either get a reservation with the restaurant below, or plan to start early.

Pisco sour is the best drink in Peru …. It is delicious, when I traveled to Lima I had the opportunity to drink others beverages and typical food of the country. I also met many places and customs of different peoples. It was an unforgettable experience that I recommend to everyone. I also recommend hiring a travel agency to arrange all your tours, I did it with TurPeru (www.turperu.com.pe) and was very good.
