A night out in Lima at the Jazz Zone

A night out in Lima at the Jazz Zone

The Jazz Zone brings a little different flavor to the typical Peruvian music scene.  The cozy, intimate scene offers a pleasant little setting to enjoy musical performances by local and international musicians. If you aren’t that into jazz, is doesn’t really matter, the club/bar is a nice change of pace and makes for a good night out.

The Jazz Zone invites musicians who play a variety of typical Jazz, Latin and Acid Jazz, Peruvian Flamenco and more. The web-site www.jazzzoneperu.com keeps an up-to-date schedule by week, and by month of the artists that will be performing. (It is in Spanish).

Fine Dining at La Rosa Nautica Restaurant

Fine Dining at La Rosa Nautica Restaurant

La Rosa Nautica is practically famous in Lima, set on Pier 4 of the Lima Beach Circuit. The view is incredible and the food is excellent, with both Peruvian and International fare to choose from.

As with every restaurant with a lot of hype, La Rosa sometimes finds it hard to live up to ever diner’s expectations. I have heard the complaints, especially from those who are on pre-paid tour packages, but all in all, the satisfaction among patrons is overwhelming.

Larcomar is clean and safe, making it an ideal place to spend the afternoon. You may choose to start your day down at the beach, and then hike on up to the shopping center for lunch, where you can sit at any of the cafes that overlook the Pacific Read more

Coffee and Lunch at Cafe Cafe in Lima

As I sit here sipping a delightful combination of coffee, Kahlua, rum, and Frangelica, I think back to the first time I had a Cappuccino Calypso at Café Café in Lima, Peru.

The two-story cafe sits is located just across from Parque Central in Miraflores, making it the perfect place to grab a cup of hot or cold coffee or a bite to eat and just watch the crowds as they pass.

The food reflects the region, so it’s no surprise that the coastal favorite is ceviche, a citrus-marinated seafood salad. The fish isn’t cooked with heat; instead it is pickled by the citrus, which it is traditionally marinated in for at least 3 hours.

In the Amazon region one of the most popular and laborious dishes is juanes. It is best described as a cross between a tamale and chicken and Read more
